Drift Eliminators
Drift eliminators are designed to capture large water droplets caught in the cooling tower air stream. They are used to prevent water droplets in the air stream from being lost to the atmosphere. In the cooling tower industry, drift rate is used to compare drift eliminator performance - it relates droplet capture efficiency to the water circulation rate in a tower.
PP drift eliminators can operate at more extreme temperatures, typically from -20°C to 70/80°C (short time), whereas PVC drift eliminators are better suited for temperature ranges of 0°C to 55/60°C.
Thermal Care Engineers offers drift eliminators designed for high efficiency in crossflow and counterflow towers. These minimize water and chemical loss, reduce pressure drop, and help your cooling system stay compliant and cost-effective, all while boosting overall cooling tower performance.
Our Product Range
- TC-100 Drift Eliminators
- Double Wall Drift Eliminators
The TC-100 Drift Eliminator by Thermal Care Engineers is a blade (profile) type eliminator designed for optimal drift entrapment efficiency, very low pressure drop, and excellent cost-effectiveness. Constructed from UV-resistant UPVC and conforming to CTI-STD 136 standards, it incorporates a 3-pass system to effectively expel air while limiting drift loss to less than 0.05% of the circulating water.
The eliminator features uniquely designed notches on the blade surface positioned where airflow changes direction. These notches trap drift droplets by using inertial forces to keep droplets on the blade and follow the sinusoidal air path, significantly reducing water loss. The TC-100 modules range from 600 mm to 3000 mm in length, 100 mm in depth, and have a pitch of 36.5 mm. They can be supported at spans up to 1800 mm and handle a maximum continuous temperature of 55°C. With an average weight of 6.6 kg/m² and a maximum face velocity of 4.0 m/sec, this drift eliminator is engineered for durability and performance in both crossflow and counterflow cooling towers

The DrifEl146 Double Wall Drift Eliminator is engineered for maximum durability, dimensional stability, and rugged structural integrity, making it ideal for cooling tower installations where heavy foot movement or pressure washing may occur. Built from high-quality rigid PVC, the double-wall construction provides enhanced strength, allowing support spans up to 1830 mm. The system operates with a maximum face velocity of 5.0 m/sec and can be fabricated in module lengths up to 3500 mm, with a depth of 146 mm and a pitch of 56.5 mm or 66 mm.
Its advanced design guides outgoing air along a sinusoidal path, using water entrapment grooves at direction changes to capture drift droplets efficiently. The three-stage inertial separation system minimizes pressure drop and maximizes drift removal, with drift losses consistently below 0.002% to 0.05% of circulating water—even for droplets larger than 65 microns. The air stream encounters two major water entrapment notches, ensuring most droplets are trapped and returned to the cooling system, which significantly reduces water and chemical loss.
DrifEl146 units can be assembled easily onsite without gluing, special tools, or skilled labor. Their pressure-washable design resists damage and maintains performance over years of heavy use, offering both reliable efficiency and low maintenance needs for industrial cooling towers.
